Design March again!
Designer Petra Lilja exhibited at Design March, Reykjavik, Iceland for the third year in a row. March 12th-15th, 2015. This time in the exciting project 1+1+1 by five Nordic designers.
1+1+1 is an ongoing, experimental collaboration between designers from three countries. Hugdetta from Iceland, Petra Lilja from Sweden and Aalto+Aalto from Finland have all designed a table or floor lamp consisting of three separate parts – a pedestal, a leg and a shade. Although the points where one part joins into another have been decided on together, each design remained a complete mystery to the others until the group meet up in Reykjavik for the Design March festival. The lamps where mixed up together and exhibited at Hotel Alda, March 12th-15th. It was be unpredictable, probably awesome, possibly a catastrophe – but the revealed end-results where a success. All five designers are very happy about the interesting process and 1+1+1 will tour the design weeks of Helsinki and Stockholm during the following year. For each new venue, a new object in three parts and 27 combinations will be designed, ending up with a Nordic mash up collection of objects.
