Smedjan means the smithy and is the title of a think tank group consisting of artist Gunnel Pettersson, musician Amit Sen, blacksmith Kristofer Åberg and industrial designer Petra Lilja. Since 2016 they have met on a regular basis in the old smithy in the village of Gislöv, Southern Sweden, to converse around the core question What are we doing here? From their different perspectives and practices, issues and opportunities around relational art, situated knowledge practices, global versus local, inner and outer processes of change, materiality, the value of craft, holon therapy and much more have been discussed within the group and at one open event.
